For science, I am reading Alien Oceans by Kevin Peter Hand and Probably Overthinking It by Allen Downey, and I am and attending meetings and lectures about astronomy.
In the past four weeks I have been reviving my Python and SQL skills, which I haven’t used since I retired three years ago. I am building an application for tracking the audiobooks I listen to. I have records in an Excel file going back to 2010. I am building a Python CGI application because DreamHost supports PHP and CGI but not WSGI.
I have posted recently about what I’ve been learning while working on this application:
- Apache httpd mod_rewrite
- Generating and Installing an ssh Public Key
- Using SQLite3 with Python 3.12 and 3.13
- Python Virtual Environments in a DreamHost Shared Hosting Account
- WSGI and CGI Apps in a DreamHost Shared Hosting Account
I am working on a second project that involves finding and annotating interesting websites in the .science top level domain. This is partly because I’m considering registering a domain in the .science TLD for my own use.
